No More Sick Kids!!

I've noticed a lot of my friends have been doing posts about their sick kids. I should have posted this earlier in the cold and flu season, but I figure better late than never. Kid's Immune Protect is a must have in a house full of kids. I swear by this stuff. Gavin hasn't been sick in over two years except for one stomach flu that only lasted 24 hours. I don't remember the last time he had a cold. And it's not like I just keep him locked up away from germs. He goes to preschool, primary, play dates, etc... We've had friends and cousins staying at our house who have been sick. Steve and I have been sick and he never catches anything. I really feel like this has made all the difference. It's inexpensive and so easy to give. I just squirt a little in Gavin's mouth right before he brushes his teeth. He doesn't seem to mind the taste at all. I think you can start giving it to your children as young as one. It's just a simple supplement that builds the immune system. So get some, you'll love it!!

GET OUT OF MY IMAGINATION!

Gavin has a very active imagination and likes to play this game where he just runs around the room and makes up stories in his head. When he does this he tells us, "I'm going to play in my imagination. Don't see me!" This means that nobody's allowed to look at or talk to him. While I'm pretending not to look at or listen to him I've heard him come up with some pretty elaborate stories. I've realized he gets pretty involved in these stories but I didn't realize how involved until today. He was running around like normal when all of the sudden he stopped, threw himself on the ground and started crying. I asked what was wrong and he said, "I don't want Buzz Lightyear in my imagination." I told him that he controls whats in his imagination and all he has to do is tell him to leave. He then tells me with tears streaming down his face, "But he's plugging his ears!" What do you say to that? There was nothing I could do but comfort him and let him complain about that jerk Buzz Lightyear. I can't wait to see what kinds of things this kid accomplishes with that creative mind of his.

This isn't the best video because he noticed I was video taping him and started to put on a show. I'm going to try to be sneakier and get better video later.

The Big Boss Man

Steve was just promoted to Director of Operations at RR Donnelly. And that makes him the head honcho of RR Donnelly Spanish Fork, sitting in the big office with a view. Albeit a view of the parking lot, but hey at least it has a window. This promotion also comes with a blackberry. :-( I'm not sure how I feel about this. I've heard wives say they have to compete for attention with that little hunk of technology. He has been with this company forever and worked very hard to get to the top. I'm very proud of you Steve. You have always been such a hard worker and great provider for our family. Congratulations! We love you!!

Little Ninja

Gavin had his first Karate lesson today. He was pretty nervous on the way there, but once we got there he warmed up and had a lot of fun. The instructor was great with him and made him feel really comfortable. He did a great job and on the drive home kept telling me how he wanted to practice his moves. When daddy came home from work he ran and put on his uniform and started showing him all learned. It was very cute to see him so excited about it. After showing off his moves he ran around the room for about an hour shouting nonsense. That boy has a lot of energy. I wish I could have even a fourth of what he has. I'm really excited for him and I hope this will help build his self confidence. Please ignore the mess of memory cards strung all over the floor.

Uncle Mike

From the day Gavin was born he has always had a special bond with his Uncle Mike. The first year of Gavin's life Mike came by to see him at least five times a week. Mike lives just down the street from us now so Gavin get to spend a lot of time with him. He is always asking me if he can go to Uncle Mike's house or if Mike can come over and play. The other day Gavin asked me if he could have a Oreo. I told him he could and then he ask if he could have two. I told him he could only have one and he said, "Uncle Mike lets me have two because I'm his best buddy." He truly believes this. Mike has a way of making him feel like number one. I'm just so thankful for the role that Mike plays in Gavin's life. He is going to be an amazing dad some day. But in the mean time he's the best uncle a kid could ask for.

What's in my purse??

I know this is a question weighing on all your minds, so I've decided to show you. No really I was tagged by my friend Marisa. I was worried when I first saw I was tagged that I was going to have to do something like write 100 things about my self. But then I was all I had to do was empty my purse. I was very relieved. Nothing too exciting, but here it is:
  • Gum and mints - if you can't tell I love cinnamon
  • Wet ones and antibacterial spray - I'm a little obsessed with germs
  • Lip sticks and lip gloss - a must have
  • Fruit leather - if Gavin or I need a snack
  • South Town Center Directory - I'm just getting to know this mall. I usually go to University
  • Coupons and gift cards - mostly expired
  • Lotion - I'm also a little obsessed with moisturizing. I have to put lotion on every time I was my hands
  • Tampon - do I need to explain this?
  • Car key chain - I have no idea how that got in there. I'm sure Gavin would know.
  • Dental floss - Yes another obsession
  • Cell phone, pen, clippers - I told you nothing exciting.
Well thats it. I'm sure you all feel like you know me so much better now. I'm tagging Autumn, Lisa, Stephanie and Jana. Have fun!!

Lucky Mom!!

The last two days Gavin and I have had some sort of stomach flu. So we've just spent the last two days in bed. Today at about 5:00pm I finally got up the energy to take shower. When I got out of the shower I put on a pair of pajama bottoms and a t-shirt and pulled back my wet hair in a hair tie. When Gavin saw me he said, "Mom you look marvelous, marvelous and beautiful." After two days of laying in bed and not being able to do or accomplishing anything I was pretty down. He's such a sweet boy! It seems like he always know when I need a little lift. And even though I know I don't look marvelous and beautiful its great know that someone thinks I do.

A Must Read???

It’s been a long standing rule of mine to not read any of Oprah's book club choices. She always chooses books that make you want to slit your wrists. But evidently Steve was unaware of this rule and bought me The Pillars of the Earth for Christmas. Now I (being the book lover that I am) couldn't let a perfectly good book just sit there ignored and unread. I mean how bad could it be? The back cover read "Wonderful...will fascinate you, surround you." So I read it. And I have decided to go back to my rule of NEVER reading a book from Oprah's book club. Don't get me wrong, they were right this novel definitely surrounds you. But I’m the type of person who gets consumed by the books I read. And while I’m reading them I feel like I’m living it. This is not a book you want to get lost in. I know what you’re thinking… Why not just stop? Well another problem I have is once I’ve started a book and get sucked in I CAN”T stop. I had to know how it ended. I had to see if everything worked out. I had to see if in the end the good guys won. So what did I do? I just walked a round for a couple days frustrated, gloomy and depressed. What is my point you ask. Great book! I just DON'T recommend it unless you don’t mind feeling that way. And I would definitely wait till spring or summer. Winter is depressing enough.

P.S. Since I just complained about one of Steve’s Christmas gifts, I must tell you that one of my favorite gifts was a reading light he gave me. I think it was just as much for him as it was for me, so that he doesn’t have to have the lamp shining in his eyes every night. Love it!!

P.S.S Any recommendations for a good, light, happy read?
