The Zoo

Gavin and I went to the Zoo on Wednesday with some friends and had a great time. It was a perfect day for the Zoo. School wasn't out yet so it wasn't busy at all and the weather was awesome. All the animals were out and about, but Gavin's favorite part was the play area and ice cream.

Memorial Weekend

We had to stay close to home for Memorial weekend because I had to teach in Relief Society, but we still had some fun. We bought bikes because Steve and I are going to "get in shape" and we got this sweet trailer bike for Gavin that we just hook on the back of Steve's bike. It's so much fun to be able to ride all together!! The Jordon River trail is just a block from our house, so we've gone on a couple good bike rides.

We went fishing with our friends at these little ponds in South Jordon right off the trail. Steve and Gavin even caught a couple of fish before it started pouring rain. We threw them back of course because they were pretty tiny and I can't really handle being party to murdering a fish. But Gavin was pretty disappointed because he wanted to take the fish home and cook it. YUCK!
Gavin got a new soccer ball but we couldn't even play outside because of the yucky weather. So we had to get creative and turned our basement into a soccer field. So despite the weather and not being able to leave town we had a great time just being together as a family.

I Want That! Part II

We were at the store today and Gavin saw some Reeses Puffs and said, "I want that!" I told him no and he said, "But mom, every time you take a bite something amazing happens!" Thats it, no more TV.

I Want That!

Every commercial Gavin sees he says, "I want that!" It's usually a toy, but it really doesn't matter what it is. Yesterday I walked in my room where he was watching TV and he said, "I want Aqua Globes! You don't even have to water your plants, they do it for you." Hey at least he's practical.

Our Future Tater Tot!

Gavin graduated from Sweet Peas at Kids Village today and next fall he'll be a Tater Tot. It was so fun to watch him walk in his cap and gown. The whole time I was sitting there I just kept thinking I'm so glad he's not going in to Kindergarten next year. I'm just not ready to send my baby to school everyday. It might be a different story if I had a baby at home, but right know I'm very thankful he misses the cut off. We're so proud of our sweet boy and are looking forward to another great year of preschool.

My cute boy's the one in the middle not singing :-)

Recieving his Diploma from Miss Jenny

You can tell I really got him dressed up for the occasion, flip flops and all.
Thank goodness for the cap and gown.

Gavin loves Miss Jenny, she has been a wonderful teacher.

Proud Mommy!

Proud Daddy!

Gavin thought since his finger was right by his nose he might as well pick it.
Luckily it only lingered for a second.

A Perfect Day!

My surprises started yesterday with Steve getting up with me to work in the yard. He worked all morning and afternoon with me and we almost finished our side yard. This may not seem like a huge deal but for anyone who knows Steve knows he works hard all week and likes to play on Saturday. Later in the day he surprised me with a dozen roses and we went out for a night on the town.

Sunday morning he and Gavin sent me on a scavenger hunt around the house for my mothers day present which was a KitchenAid. I've wanted one of these forever! Good bye Annoying little mixer. He also made me yummy crepes with grapes, strawberries, kiwi, raspberries, bananas and whip cream. They were delicious!!

I also got to open Gavin's surprise. He had made me a cute little recipe holder that had a recipe for Love on it. I told him it was what I always wanted and he was so proud. I'm so lucky to be the mom a such a sweet and amazing child!

All weekend Steve had been trying to talk me into going to our neighbors ward whose church starts at 11:00am. You see Steve's a little bit of a Jazz fan and by little bit I mean HUGE and our church starts at 1:00pm and the game started at 1:30pm. So during breakfast Steve said, "You know what would make this a perfect day?" I said, knowing exactly what he was hinting at, "For us to go to church together as a family!" And Gavin said, "No, I think the whip cream makes this a perfect day!"

I had a wonderful day thanks to my two favorite boys! Steve even gave in and went to our ward and missed most of the game. Thank you both for the special day. I love you to pieces!!

Happy Mothers Day To My Moms!

I am really one of the luckiest girls in the world!! I was blessed with the best mom ever. It's been hard to have her so far away, but I couldn't be more proud of her and the lives she's touching. I have to remember not to be selfish and just be thankful that I got to have her so close for 29 years. And also remember it will only be one more. Thank you mom for always being there for me, even from miles away. I never understood a mothers love until I had one of my own. And I'm so thankful for a mom who taught me to be the best mother I can be. I hope I can live up to your example. I love you!

I hear women complain all the time about their horrible mother in laws, but I have never been able to relate. I was so lucky to marry into a family with such an amazing mom. Judy works so hard to take care of her family she hardly gets a second for herself. She is one of the most selfless people I know. I guess you have to be to raise eight children with such patients and love. I love you Judy and thank you for all you do. You are a wonderful grandma and the best mother in law a girl could ask for.

Can't Wait!

When I picked Gavin up from school today he handed me a paper bag that said, "Don't open until Mother's Day!" And he said, "I need to be with you when you open it. I hope its what you've always wanted!" Could he be more sweet?

Now I know the suspense is probably killing you guys, but don't worry I'll let you know what is. Stay tunned....

What is it about stuffed animals?

Or more specifically taxidermied animals. I mean really, if you think about it's pretty morbid. But for some reason kids love them. Gavin loves going to places like Cabellas and the Monte L. Beam Museum to look at dead animals. Weird, but whatever makes him happy. We went to Cabellas this weekend and he had a blast.

And can I tell you how much I'm loving this weather! We went to the park on Monday with some friends for a picnic, slides and soccer. We actually had to move blankets into the shade because it got too hot. Love it, love it, love it!! Beautiful weather please don't go away!!!
