Steve Atwood The Saint

Any of you who know my husband knows he'll do anything for his family and friends. And this weekend Steve proved it. His friend Kelly was moving to Seattle with his family for a new job. Steve offered to drive with him in his U-hale to help him unload the truck when they got there. They were suppose to leave at 5pm on Friday and just drive straight through. This would have been about a 13 hr trip. No big deal, right? WRONG!! Kelly didn't pick Steve up until about 11:30 pm. They drove through the night in questionable weather. Finally pulling over at about 8:30 am to get a little sleep in Burly, Idaho. They slept for 3 uncomfortable hours in the truck and set off again. A few hours later they had to pull off the side of the road again because the snow got so bad they were required to have chains. And of course what U-hale comes stocked with chains. They sat there trying to wait out the weather, but began to realize it was just going to get worse. So they decided to brave it. They drove for who knows how long at about 5 mph and so on and so on.... Anyway they finally reached their destination at 9:30pm Saturday evening. Now I'm not great at math but doesn't that make what should have been a 13hr trip into a 22hr?

At this point they were way to exhausted to unload the truck so they decided to call it a night. Steve cuddled up in his cozy blanket on the hard floor and tried to sleep. They got up early this morning and started unloading the truck. This took them the entire morning and most of the afternoon, because it was just Steve, Kelly, and his teenage stepson.

Steve is now at the airport waiting to see when or if his delayed flight is ever going to leave. And through all this all he has said is, "This kind of sucks." Are you kidding me! If it was me, Steve wouldn't hear the end of my complaints. This is just one of the many reasons I love this man. He is soooooooooooo patient! And so willing to help others. What a trooper!!

That has always been one of Steve's many great attributes. What a guy and what a wife you are to let him do it. We all need to have that attitude.

He really will do anything for his family and friends! What a nice guy. We just love him. Have a safe trip home Steve! Next time anyone you know has to move that far, tell them to call me. We had our stuff shipped ABF and it ends up being cheaper and a lot less trouble, ie not endangering lives!

I would never do that, for anyone! :) I'm not sure if you tried to drop by yesterday. Can you just put a check in the mail, made out to me. That will probably be the easiest way. Thanks!

My husband is the same way. Sometimes we forget how lucky we are. At least I do. By the way, it was great to see you again.

Lisa, I wouldn't ever do that either. (Maybe your dad would though.) I'm just glad everyone ended up safe.
Steve really is quite a friend to a lot of people.

Ask Steve about the last time he headed out with his buddies through Idaho to Oregon or Washington!
